Jesus said, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' (John 14:6)

Easter Story: Retold by the Students of St Bernard’s Primary School

Ms Guthrie has been working incredibly hard during Performing Arts lessons on having each class prepare a small part of our combined retelling of the Story of Jesus.

Each class will sing a song and be involved in retelling the story of Jesus’s last 7 days on earth. The students are to be commended on their participation and preparation for this special retell.

We would warmly welcome all families and friends of St Bernard’s Primary School to join us next Thursday for this special event.

Combined Schools Mass 2025

We celebrated Mass at Carroll College on Tuesday. This annual event is a significant part of our Pathway relationship with Carroll College and St Mary’s Primary School in Moruya. This is where we come together as a faith community to celebrate what we have accomplished and to pray to the Lord for his intercession as we proceed into the year before us.

Father George Azhakath proceeded over the Mass, with students and staff from the College involved in a variety of roles. Special mention must be made of the music provided by Mrs Maher, Mrs Lomax, and the Carroll College Music students.

The students of St Bernards Primary School are to be commended on their reverent and respectful participation in the Mass. A special thank you to Brooke who was our Kindergarten parent representative, Inalah and Janahli (Kindergarten), Scarlett, Georgina, Rowan, Mackenzie, Ava and Evie (Year 6), and Alyssa and Eva (Year 5) for representing our school.

After the Mass, we joined together to share morning tea on the grounds at Carroll College. The sun was shining upon us, and we all enjoyed a treat of hot cross buns, a popper and an Easter egg.

This event was especially significant for the team at Carroll College, with them celebrating 30 years of education in the Eurobodalla region. I am certain that you will join with us as we congratulate Mrs Jacqui Heffernan and the team at the College for their devotion and dedication towards educational excellence for all students.

I would like to thank Mrs Anna Smart, Mrs Belle Barling, Mrs Jess Afflick and Mrs Carla Durnan for their collaboration during this event. It is when we work together as schools, that we can make a bigger difference for our students through building community.

Reconciliation: Sacrament

During Week 8, all of the students participating in the sacrament of Reconciliation travelled to Carroll College for a retreat day.

Mrs Belle Barling and the Youth Ministry Team from Carroll College facilitated the day, where the students broke into groups and participated in a variety of activities.

The day commenced with some icebreaker activities, and the students then looked at a variety of scripture passages linked to the sacrament. We were treated to a delicious lunch and then joined in prayer to finish the day.

The students had the opportunity to learn from older students and collaborate with peers from St Mary’s Primary School. All students enjoyed the day, and we would like to extend our thanks to the Carroll College team for hosting us.

Last Thursday, myself, Mr Ward, Mrs Coulter and Father Rex gathered with the families receiving Reconciliation to reflect upon the journey so far, and then to contemplate the road to come. Father Rex invited the students to participate in a roleplay to enable them to experience what the process of Reconciliation would look like and sound like. We then came together to share pizza and chat about the process to date.

The students have been preparing at home through the completion of a work booklet, they have participated in a retreat day at Carroll College and Mrs Coulter and Mr Ward have guided the students within the classroom.

We look forward to celebrating with the students who will be participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation next Tuesday at 5:00 pm at St Bernard’s Parish Church.

Father Rex Curry and Father Eden Langlands will preside over the First Reconciliation, and we would warmly welcome you to join us for this special event.

As part of the Lenten season, Father Rex has generously offered for anyone in the Parish to come along and receive Reconciliation. This invitation is both generous and an opportunity for all of us to gather as a faith community to reconcile with the Lord during the season of Lent. We hope to see you there.

Easter Event - St Bernard’s Parish

St Bernard’s Parish is hoping to make this year’s Easter celebration special, and as such, they are inviting the community to get involved.

During Mass, Father Rex has extended an invitation to the Parish Community to let the organising committee know which dates over Easter they might be available to support with the event. The organising committee will then be in touch.

If you are interested, please contact the Parish on (02) 4472 4153.

Begin With The Heart

Congratulations to 6M who won the Begin With The Heart class challenge for Week 8. The class challenge was to follow the value: I use my manners and actions to show appreciation to others.

Our students will now focus on a respect value for the coming two weeks: I care for the environment. Students will be rewarded hearts in their classroom heart jar whenever they demonstrate this value.

We also have a new Begin With The Heart Mascot. Unfortunately, this adorable creature is without a name. Classes have been challenged to come up with a name for the fluffy koala. We cannot wait to see what fun and exciting names the students will come up with and we hope to reveal this information at the end of this week!
