Assistant Principal News

Dear Parents and Carers

Yesterday I attended Carroll College with eight students from Year 5 and 6 for the second session of the Gurumbangamba Mentoring and Transition program. The Indigenous student leaders in Year 11 and 12 were excellent mentors for our students and those from St Mary's Moruya, who joined together to get to know one another better. The theme for the day was resilience and students explored the meaning of this through discussion and a yarning circle, team building activities and dadirri- quiet still listening and awareness. The students from our school strengthened their bond between one another at the session while becoming more familiar with the high school environment. We thank Mrs Katuke, Contact Teacher for Aboriginal students, Trish Ellis, Chelsea Laurie and the Carroll College leaders for offering us this wonderful program.

Archdiocesan Public Speaking

We wish Beatrix F of Year 3, Annie F of Year 5 and Isabella L of Year 6 the very best for tomorrow when they compete in the Archdiocesan Public Speaking Competition at St Peter and Paul's Primary School in Goulburn. Beatrix will present a 2 minute speech on the topic 'My Backyard' while Annie and Isabella will each present a 3 minute speech on the topics 'Learning from the Past' for Annie and 'Difficult Journeys' for Isabella. The girls are to be congratulated on progressing to this level of competition.

The Year 4 overnight excursion to Canberra is approaching, with students departing in the final week of term on Wednesday 20 September.
