Assistant Principal News

Dear Parents and Carers

This week many of the students have participated in the First Aid in Schools program delivered to Years 3-6 by Bob Colville from St John's Ambulance. Learning how to respond to assist others with first aid is an excellent skill and we are very fortunate to be able to offer this to our students each year. In addition, police officer Donna Clarke visited the students of Year 5 and 6 this week to discuss safe practices with social media and the power of making the right decision. Donna spoke to the students about demonstrating respectful behaviours in all environments including at school and in the community. We thank Bob and Donna for reaching out to us to present this content to the students.

ICAS Awards

Last term 15 students participated in the ICAS competition which is an international academic competition. The questions are designed by psychometrician, education measurement experts and experienced teachers to push students to their academic limits, as well as test higher-order thinking and problem-solving abilities. Congratulations to the following students who achieved a Merit, Credit or Distinction in this challenging competition.

SRC & House Captain Leaders
On Monday 4 December in Week 9 the students of Year 5 who would like to be members of the Student Representative Council (SRC) or House Captains in 2024 will have the opportunity to present a speech to the students of Years 2-5 who will then vote for their preferred student representatives. Six students form the SRC with two of these students holding the position of School Captain. Two students are selected for each of the four sporting houses.
Our current SRC and House Captains have been excellent leaders throughout the year and we know that the students of Year 5 will look to emulate the responsibility and enthusiasm they have exhibited in their roles.
Dance Concert
Next week on Thursday 16 November at 1.45pm we invite you to a concert in the hall to view the dance routine that each class has been learning with Tracy Spence at school over the term. Classes have chosen their favourite dance to showcase for you. We hope that you can make it.
I hope that you have a lovely weekend.
Warm regards
Karen
